This is an old style western tune with a shoot-out ending. A bit of allusion to Neil Young with 'riding on my horse thru a desert with no name.' I had fun tracking the accordion and lap steel guitar, I was going for that wild west campfire sound (the song is kind of campy:). For the rhythm, I used an old guitar that is so cheap, they didn't even put a name on it, but it sounds cool. The thundering drums and bass come in at the end for some showdown action.
lyrics
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
You know I'd really, really hate to lose her
I'm going all the way to Tuscaloosa
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
Riding on my horse thru a desert with no name
A-driftin' on an ocean of sky
Thinking 'bout my lady and how she drives me crazy
Missing her sweet voice my oh my
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
You know I'd really, really hate to lose her
I'm going all the way to Tuscaloosa
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
Up come a thunderstorm with wind but no rain
That horse she flashed a look so dire
Up came a clap of thunder
She tore her lead asunder
She ran just like her tail was on fire
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
You know I'd really, really hate to lose her
I'm going all the way to Tuscaloosa
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
And the sun went down
And the clouds rolled in
He wondered if ever
He'd see her again
Have you seen my Appaloosa?
You know I'd really, really hate to lose her
I'm going all the way to Tuscaloosa city
Just to see my baby sitting there so pretty
And the hour grew late
And the light grew dim
And this sad, sad story
Would come to an end
